The International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ISSCT) is currently preparing its joint XIV Pathology and XII Entomology Workshop that will be organized by eRcane and CIRAD in Réunion Island from 15 to 19 March 2027.
Technical programme
This joint workshop will address major pests and diseases affecting the global sugar cane industry, with emphasis on agroecological and sustainable management strategies in the context of climate change. The programme will include sessions dedicated to the following key topics:
Management
Integrated pest and disease management using both conventional and advanced technologies.
Diagnosis and forecasting
Advances in diagnosing and forecasting the impacts of pests and diseases.
Resistance Screening
Application of conventional and cutting-edge technologies for screening and selecting resistant varieties.
Biosecurity and Emerging Threats
Strengthening global and regional biosecurity systems through innovative technologies and protocols.
Interaction
Exploring the interactions between:

Agroclimatic conditions

The biology of pests and pathogens

Host resistance mechanisms to develop more resilient pest and disease management strategies.

Workshop format
The joint workshop will consist of three full days of scientific presentations and discussions. Participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentations or poster presentations related to the themes of the workshop and other topics of interest in the field of sugar cane pathology and entomology.
In addition, two days will be dedicated to field visits including eRcane experimental sites and CIRAD’s scientific facilities.
Registration
Workshop registration is 280€ per participant.
All workshop participants must be ISSCT members and the membership dues of US$150 may be paid through the online payment system (see below). Membership dues for the period 2025-2028 may be settled directly to the ISSCT Secretariat. For membership application form and for additional information, please visit the ISSCT website.
Visas
La Reunion is not part of the Schengen area.
You can check on the Visa Wizard to see if you need a visa to travel to Réunion Island (REUNION).
If you need a visa, please follow the instructions described on France-Visas.
A short-stay visa is also required for simple transit through mainland France, once outside “international zone” at any airport:
